SUSAN BARCLAY
I see my family as the traditional American family. My husband and I have been married for 15 years and we have a beautiful son who is 5. We both work fulltime, have a nice house and two cars. We like to take a week in the spring to go to Florida and a week in the summer to go to the beach. We live within our means and are putting money away for retirement and college tuition.
We have always admired our parents for their financial stability. Both of our family’s lived under the same motto, “work hard, pay off the mortgage ASAP, save for your retirement in a 401K and save for your child’s college tuition”. Both our parents are retired now, own their homes and pay far too much in taxes!
My husband I started to think that there had to be a better way to save more for our future and pay less when we get there. That’s when we heard about “Missed Fortune 101”.
I feel secure knowing that we are not only saving money for our future we are allowing our money to accumulate additional wealth, and will be able to retire earlier with less financial penalties. And if our son doesn’t get his golf scholarship, we will be able to send him to that Ivy League college anyway!
